Valkurm Dunes Guide (Final Fantasy fugitive)
March 19th, 2009Hey there, I recently started playing Final Fantasy 11 again. This strategy is primarily for San d'Orians and Bastokians for traveling convenience. If you want to use airship, boat, etc., then feelk free.
First off, get to Level 11. I accomplished this by first killing everything in West Ranfaure until level 6. Then Ghelsba til 9. Then la Thine Til 11. Now, take the long trek to Valkurm. On the way be careful of the hordes of Goblins.
There are two popular strategies:
1) Kill Lizards and Goblins near the entrance to Konchstat Highlands, or
2) Kill Snippers, Goblins, and Bats at the moderately camped areas (J-6)
First, I will go over #1. First off get into a party. 2 warriors, 2 whm, 1 monk, and 1 thf is a good combination. Now, find a camp. Look for a place away from aggressive spawns and try to get it near a corner. First you will need a puller. This player will find a reasonable spawn, bring it back to the camp, and let everyone else just wait. Then you will need a tank and a backup tank. Thats what the WARs are for in this strategy. PLDs also work very well. The tank will provoke the creature the puller lured to the base. The tank will also be responsible for holding the creature off the healers i.e. provoking them if the healers get aggroed. The backup will provoke the creature if the tanks health gets too low( around under 80 is a good time to voke it). Now the WHM should stand in the back and heal the tank when its health gets low. This are gives an average 130 xp per battle depending on the difficulty of the creatures.
For the second strategy, you will need a BLM. The BLM should cast fire, as the snippers( the main source of xp) are weak against it. Snippers have extremely high defense and can also cast Defense Boost. You will notice you may be hitting 0 damage. Don’t worry, it wont last. Use the same pulling-tanking strategy as in part one for this.
This is a very easy and useful strategy to level. The exp is very good, the only problem is the slight risk of death. If someone in the group is being incompetent, the whole group could collapse. i.e backups not vokin and causing your regular tank to die or puller luring extremely strong targets. So be careful who you group with. I recommend setting your HP in Selbina or near the entrance to Konchstat. This is an excellent technique.
